Keep a very positive work environment, that especially includes what’s being said about others behind closed doors. Often, I hear owners and or managers say that because the door is closed, no one knows what they are saying about others – when in fact, their dissatisfaction and true feelings betray them in ways they don’t realize. It comes out in subtle communications.
Remember, 80% of communication is non verbal. And in those moments, often our view is colored by stress, tiredness, and daily challenges, and we don’t respond in a way that’s going to generate a result in our best interest. That’s a good time to stop, check in, and see if you have an option to see this differently.
Sir Winston Churchill said, “A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Which side of the fence are you on?
